Equipment

  • Medium-sized saucepan
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Step 1: Combine Ingredients
Gather all your ingredients:1 cup of yellow mustard, 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of honey, 1/4cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of hot sauce (adjust to taste), 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Place them all in a saucepan.
  • Step 2: Whisk Together
Using a whisk, thoroughly mix all the ingredients in the saucepan until they are well combined. Ensure that there are no lumps and that all the flavors are evenly distributed throughout the sauce.
  • Step 3: Simmer
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Once it starts simmering, reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer. This allows the flavors to meld together and develop.
  • Step 4: Cook Until Thickened
Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. As it cooks, the sauce will begin to thicken slightly, developing a rich and flavorful consistency. Keep an eye on it to prevent it from boiling or sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness and spiciness of the sauce to your preference by varying the amount of honey and hot sauce used.
  • For a smokier flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the sauce.
